We are seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to take a key leadership role in managing existing opportunities and driving the growth of our environmental services across targeted markets.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership position combining project delivery, team leadership, and business growth.
You will manage a strong pipeline of Defence and government work, while building and leading a team to expand our capabilities in contaminated sites, PFAS, and waste classification across priority sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage current project opportunities across Defence and State Government clients
* Provide technical oversight on contaminated sites, PFAS investigations, and waste classification
* Lead and review waste classification assessments, including:
o Contaminated soils impacted by heavy metals (e.g. lead, arsenic, chromium, mercury)
o Hydrocarbon-impacted materials and mixed waste streams
o PFAS-impacted soils and waters requiring specialised classification approaches
* Interpret laboratory analytical data and apply relevant guidelines (e.g. WA Health, NEPM, and landfill acceptance criteria)
* Develop waste classification strategies aligned with appropriate disposal pathways
* Identify cost-effective and compliant disposal or treatment options for complex waste streams
* Identify and pursue growth opportunities in targeted markets
* Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing environmental team
* Strengthen and expand client relationships, particularly within Defence and government sectors
* Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and commercial performance
* Contribute to the strategic direction and expansion of environmental service lines
About You
* 10+ years' experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on contaminated land
* Strong expertise in PFAS contamination and waste classification frameworks
* Demonstrated experience classifying wastes impacted by heavy metals, pesticides, hydrocarbons, and emerging contaminants
* Strong understanding of WA regulatory requirements, landfill criteria, and NEPM guidelines
* Proven experience managing client portfolios and growing service offerings
* Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and secure new opportunities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience working with Defence or government clients (highly regarded)
