**The Role**
Our client is an Australian household name and market leader within their space. They are currently looking for a Category Manager to join the Procurement team on a full-time, permanent basis to lead the end-to-end procurement of the Engineering Category.
Reporting into the Head of Procurement, this Category Manager will be responsible for leading a team of three direct reports that will develop, manage, and execute multiple Group wide procurement category strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the agreement and execution of Group wide category strategies in consultation with business segment stakeholders.
- Work closely with the category team, providing expertise and guidance on the development of category strategies as necessary.
- Ensure that category strategies support the overall Procurement strategy and delivery of business strategies.
- Mentor and guide the Category Management Specialists in carrying out all activities in line with the procurement strategy, policy, and procedures.
- Benefits tracking and reporting for the portfolio of categories within the role scope, ensuring that the agreed benefits measurement and tracking process is followed throughout the team.
- Carry out appropriate development and performance management activities for the team.
The Category Manager will play a key role in the leadership of the Procurement Department, leading and ensuring continuous improvement programs are implemented and tracked, leading team engagement and development, and promoting to, and educating the broader business with regard to Procurement methods and policies.
This individual will act as a key senior client relationship lead, establishing and maintaining relevant stakeholder relationships to ensure that they are consulted and informed as appropriate.
**Skills & Experience**
- Proven experience within a Category Manager/Procurement Manager/Senior Specialist role driving procurement strategies.
- Extensive experience procuring engineering or related goods and services.
- Previous experience leading a team of strategic procurement specialists.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to influence at all levels.
- Ability to work within a developing, fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about delivering successful outcomes for stakeholders.
Applicants with tertiary education and further training in the procurement industry such as MCIPS will be held in high regard, but previous demonstrable experience is the priority.
