About the role:
* Cover a diverse range of stories -from breaking news to community features.
* Interview key stakeholders and uncover stories that matter.
* Work closely with the Editor and newsroom team to meet daily deadlines.
* Contribute engaging content across digital and social media platforms to continue to grow audience reach.
* Drive reader engagement through compelling and original reporting.
About you:
* A tertiary qualification in journalism or related field.
* Demonstrated experience researching, developing and delivering accurate news stories.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain trusted community relationships.
* Well developed writing and communication skills with confidence conducting interviews.
* Ability to manage competing headlines and adapt to changing news cycles.
* A strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines.
* Passion for local news with an interest in government reporting highly regarded.
* Digital production skills, or a strong desire to upskill in social media and multimedia journalism.
