Description
Based in Sydney, you will be an important senior member of the Australian advisory practice, helping to deliver our advisory services for clients. You will support all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, synthesising conclusions into recommendations and presenting to senior clients. You will develop data-based strategic insights into the energy transition for both public and private sector clients. You will manage junior colleagues in developing insights to help clients make better choices.
You will work in a dynamic, stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. You will apply your interpersonal skills to build connected, co‐operative project teams. You will be given responsibility to chart the path of their teams through projects, and opportunities to substantially influence the thinking of organisations across the energy sector. Over time, you will be able to grow into an industry expert with deep experience addressing major strategic issues at the world's leading electricity market modelling firm.
You will be expected to have experience in the energy markets (ideally in power), either at a consultancy, government body, or industry. Prior experience in leading and managing a team will be a plus.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and carry out timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients' decision making
* Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results
* Monitor the latest policy and market developments
* Engage with clients to thoroughly understand their interests and gain new insights
* Communicate findings to clients in workshops and conferences, turning analysis to insight by creating compelling presentations
* Contribute to our product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities
What we are looking for
Required attributes:
* At least 4 years of experience at a consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or other knowledge-focused firm or institution
* First class or high second-class university degree (or equivalent) from a top-tier university
* Demonstrated success in taking responsibility for project and process management in team‐oriented environments
* Proven ability to interpret and derive insight from complex quantitative data and information
* Ability to communicate clearly and co‐operate effectively with both technically and non‐technically minded people
* Self‐starting, entrepreneurial mind‐set, and desire to grow the business
Desirable attributes:
* Previous experience of working on energy-related projects or policy in an Australian context. One of the following areas will be highly favoured – network and grid modelling, distributed energy resources, power purchase agreements or policy
* Leadership, project management or mentoring experience demonstrated by previous roles of professional responsibility or extracurricular activities
* Demonstrated success in working together with clients
* Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel)
* Strong academic record, such as a Master's degree in a relevant discipline
