REQ571144 Visiting Medical Officer – Breast Radiologist
BreastScreen NSW HNELHD is seeking a specialist breast radiologist committed to providing best practice breast diagnostic imaging and procedural services for women attending assessment clinics for diagnostic work-up of recalled lesions. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, compassionate care, working cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team and with other health professionals.
The role requires providing services and advice that are safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centered, complying with the National Accreditation Standards of BreastScreen Australia, Breast Screen NSW Operating Standards, NSW Health Policy Directives, and HNELHD policies.
BreastScreen NSW Hunter New England is part of the National Program, BreastScreen Australia, managed through Hunter New England Imaging on behalf of BSNSW and the Cancer Institute. The service includes four full-time mobile screening units, one shared mobile unit, and three fixed screening units located in East Maitland, Tamworth, and Waratah, with assessment services based at Tamworth and Waratah. The successful applicant may be expected to provide assessment services at both fixed sites, by negotiation. Participation in reading screening mammograms is desirable but not essential.
The catchment area covers Lake Macquarie to the Queensland border, including the Northern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Lower Mid North Coast, Hunter Valley, and Newcastle.
Suitable Applicants Will Have
1. A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
2. Diagnostic breast imaging and procedural experience, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Breast Diagnostic Radiology and Breast Interventional Radiology.
3. Prior experience in a breast screening program is highly desirable but not essential.
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent and temporary, full-time and part-time positions.
