Job Title: Electrical Engineering Internship

Estimating

Role Responsibilities:

Assisting the estimating team with preparing cost estimates for switchboard manufacturing projects.
Helping gather information on material costs, labor, and time required for manufacturing processes.
Supporting the creation of budget proposals based on design and specifications.
Assisting in calculating the required quantities of components and materials for each project.
Reviewing project specifications and designs to identify potential cost-saving measures.
Helping to ensure that estimates align with the company's pricing structure and profit margins.

Assisting With Design And Drafting

Assisting senior engineers in designing electrical circuits and switchboard layouts.
Using CAD software to create and modify electrical designs.
Drafting technical schematics for switchboard assemblies.

Testing And Quality Control

Helping to test electrical systems, switchboards, and components for performance and safety.
Assisting with inspection and ensuring compliance with Australian electrical standards.
Documenting test results and helping to prepare quality control reports.

Product Development

Supporting engineers in the development of new switchboard products.
Assisting in prototype assembly and testing.
Providing feedback on the performance of new designs or features.

Assembly And Wiring

Assisting with the assembly of electrical components inside switchboards.
Wiring and connecting electrical components as per the design specifications.
Ensuring proper connection and installation according to safety standards.

Compliance And Safety

Assisting in ensuring all designs and manufactured switchboards comply with Australian standards such as AS/NZS 61439.
Supporting safety audits and inspections.
Helping maintain records of safety checks and compliance.

Troubleshooting And Support

Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues in existing switchboards or designs.
Providing technical support for ongoing manufacturing processes.
Helping resolve minor electrical issues or defects during production.

Documentation And Reporting

Helping to maintain and update technical documentation.
Assisting in writing reports or project updates.
Assisting with the preparation of technical manuals or guides for products.

Research And Development (R&D)

Supporting the R&D team in researching new technologies for switchboard systems.
Assisting with testing new components or systems for improved performance or efficiency.
Contributing to sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.

Customer And Supplier Liaison

Supporting communication between the engineering team and clients or suppliers.
Assisting with preparing technical documentation for customers or suppliers.

Project Assistance

Helping with project management tasks, including scheduling and tracking project progress.
Assisting in the procurement of materials and equipment needed for projects.

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Strong understanding of electrical principles and theories.
Experience with circuit design and analysis tools.
Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Experience in a lab environment is a plus.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
Familiarity with project management principles.
Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) is a plus.
