About the Role

Join the Sterilisation Services Unit at Maitland Hospital and play a vital role in keeping our patients safe. You'll be part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team providing sterilisation and reprocessing services across medical, surgical, and emergency areas. Working closely with the SSU Management Team, you'll ensure all reusable medical devices are cleaned, sterilised, and tracked according to Australian Standard 5369:2023.

Your Role: Responsibilities & Challenges
As a Sterilisation Technician Grade 2 at Maitland Hospital, you'll play a critical role in patient safety, infection prevention, and the smooth operation of our Sterilisation Services Unit. You'll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where attention to detail and adaptability are essential.


What You'll Do:
* Collect, decontaminate, inspect, package, sterilise, and transport reusable medical devices safely and efficiently.
* Maintain accurate tracking and documentation through electronic systems, including sterilisation and batch records.
* Monitor equipment performance daily, reporting malfunctions or breakdowns within your delegation.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment at all times.
* Communicate effectively with peers and clinical teams, ensuring concise, accurate, and complete records.
* Provide thorough handovers to colleagues to ensure seamless continuity of service.
* Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and professional development opportunities.
* Model behaviours that reflect the HNE Health Values Charter, NSW Health Code of Conduct, and the Excellence Framework (Every Patient, Every Time).
* Take proactive care of workplace safety, reporting hazards, risks, or incidents promptly.

Requirements:

* Sterilisation Technology Certificate III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility.
