The Executive Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the Dean and senior leadership of Melbourne Law School, providing high-level coordination across governance, operations, and strategic initiatives. This dynamic position encompasses complex stakeholder engagement, project management, and the preparation of key documentation, including correspondence, reports, and agreements.
The role is instrumental in facilitating faculty governance arrangements, supporting global engagement, and ensuring the seamless execution of executive priorities. With a remit that spans policy development, research, and high-level communication, the Executive Officer exercises sound judgement, discretion, and diplomacy in navigating competing priorities and delivering timely, high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Your Responsibilities
* Oversee governance arrangements, provide expert advice, coordinate key meetings, ensure policy compliance, and maintain the Faculty Governance Framework.
* Manage operations and projects, lead and mentor staff, draft agreements, coordinate recruitment and awards, oversee communications, and address operational challenges.
* Conduct research and analysis, prepare reports, briefing notes, and legal documents, evaluate governance matters, and advise on executive priorities, university regulations, and strategic opportunities.
* Facilitate executive communication, draft correspondence and speeches, handle confidential information, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and support the Dean's engagement with the legal profession and broader academic community.

A natural problem-solver, you demonstrate sound judgement, diplomacy, and the ability to manage competing priorities with poise. Minimum Qualifications:
* Exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, briefing notes, and legal or governance-related documents.
* Proven experience in project coordination and stakeholder management, demonstrating the ability to oversee complex initiatives, engage with diverse groups, and ensure timely outcomes.
* Strong knowledge of governance, policy, and administrative frameworks, with the capacity to develop, implement, and refine processes in alignment with institutional and regulatory requirements.
* Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion, while exercising sound judgement, autonomy, and a results-oriented approach in a dynamic environment.
