Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education.
We provide services across the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and, subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, will transfer to Bayside Health following a merger with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service.
The merger aims to strengthen the workforce and create new training, education and career opportunities.
All employees from the five health services may transfer to Bayside Health on final approval.

About Our Team
The Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides integrated and timely diagnostic capabilities as part of the largest public pathology laboratory network in Victoria, supporting local and state-wide needs in trauma, organ transplantation and HIV/AIDS diagnostics.
APS conducts all pathology testing for multiple hospitals and offers services through five units: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Human Molecular Pathology.
APS emphasises education and professional development, offers learning opportunities for students and clinicians, and collaborates with research institutions.
Alfred Health partners with Monash Health to deliver pathology services across Western Health laboratories and collection centres, including New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital, with ongoing collaboration to meet future demands.
