ACCIONA Agua is a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and water solutions. We design, construct, and operate some of the most advanced water treatment, wastewater, and desalination projects worldwide.
We are seeking an experienced Senior I&C / Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in delivering major water infrastructure projects across Australia. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to complex, high‐value programs that directly impact communities and drive long‐term sustainability.
About the Role
As a Senior Instrumentation & Control / Commissioning Engineer, you will lead the planning, design input, testing, and commissioning of I&C systems across large‐scale water projects—including desalination plants and conventional water treatment facilities.
Technical & Project Delivery
* Lead I&C engineering scope across major water infrastructure projects.
* Oversee PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation integration, testing, and commissioning.
* Review and develop construction and commissioning methodologies, drawings, and ITPs.
* Analyse and manage project schedules, identifying critical path elements and dependencies.
* Ensure effective coordination between design, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
* Identify and mitigate technical, construction, and interface risks.
Commissioning Leadership
* Develop detailed commissioning plans and procedures for I&C systems.
* Manage FAT, SAT, loop testing, calibration, and functional verification.
* Troubleshoot control logic, instrumentation faults, and interface issues.
* Ensure systems achieve performance outcomes, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness.
Digital Engineering & Quality
* Utilise BIM, GIS, and digital engineering tools to improve coordination and reduce risk.
* Lead quality assurance efforts, promoting ACCIONA's "Quality at ACCIONA" approach.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across project teams.
Collaboration, Communication & Leadership
* Foster strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
* Communicate clearly and proactively across multi‐disciplinary groups.
* Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of innovation and curiosity.
* Support contract administration, cost control, reporting, and change management.
Required Skills and Competencies
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in I&C engineering on major infrastructure projects—water sector experience highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of PLC/SCADA systems, industrial instrumentation, and automation standards.
* Demonstrated success in commissioning complex process systems.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Preferred
* Experience on desalination, wastewater, or potable water treatment facilities.
* Experience with BIM / digital engineering tools.
* Proven leadership capabilities within complex project environments.
