About the role:
This is an excellent opportunity for 2026 First Year Graduates (FYG) to join the Physiotherapy team at John Hunter Hospital (JHH) to gain valuable experience across a broad range of clinical areas in an acute hospital setting.
The successful first year graduates will be offered a 24-month contract. This will consist of 8 three (3) month rotations through the core clinical areas of Physiotherapy. This will also include a 3-month secondment in the first and second year to Maitland and Manning Base Hospital (Taree). Accommodation and travel time is provided during the Taree secondment.
In addition, there will be opportunities for further employment at JHH for staff wishing to remain on staff at the end of their 24-month contract.
Where you'll be working:
Our Physiotherapy department provides services to JHH, Rankin Park Centre and Belmont Hospital, as well as a secondment program to John Hunter Children's Hospital and HNELHD regional and rural sites to assist with workforce planning and service delivery. About you:
We are seeking flexible and motivated new graduate physiotherapists with strong communication, time management and organisational skills to ensure the provision of safe, patient centred and high-quality physiotherapy services at JHH/RPC/BDH.
Requirements:
* Must hold qualifications recognised for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and hold general registration (or be eligible for same) with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia via AHPRA. Applicants must also demonstrate a sound undergraduate academic record and provide a current academic transcript (including GPA and Placement APP assessments) as part of their online application

* To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
