We are currently looking for a Senior Mine/Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to join our team for a construction project in Regional New South Wales (100% Onsite).
Project: Large-scale underground tunnelling and hydro-related excavation (tunnels and caverns) within a major infrastructure & renewable energy program.Estimated Duration: Initial term of 2+ years.
In general, when the project ends, we try to relocate the employee to other projects to ensure continuity.ResponsibilitiesDesign & compliance: Design, optimize, and monitor underground ventilation systems for tunnels and caverns, ensuring compliance with Australian mining, tunnelling, and H&S regulations.Technical analysis: Perform airflow simulations, thermal load assessments, and troubleshoot ventilation and air quality issues across multiple project sites.On-site support: Provide hands-on technical assistance during excavation, installation, and commissioning, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.Leadership & team development: Lead and mentor small engineering teams; manage deliverables, timelines, and quality while fostering technical growth.Stakeholder engagement: Represent ventilation engineering in meetings with client, JV partners, government, and internal teams.Cross-disciplinary collaboration: Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical teams for integrated solutions.RequirementsExperience: 8–12 years as a Ventilation Engineer, with at least 3–4 years in Australia; hands-on involvement in tunnelling or mining projects (mandatory, at least one of them).
Technical expertise: Proven experience in ventilation system design, optimization, troubleshooting; airflow simulations and thermal load evaluations; strong knowledge of Australian WHS/OHS compliance.On-site knowledge: Practical experience during excavation, installation, and commissioning; ability to resolve ventilation-related issues under site conditions.Leadership & collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary groups (civil, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical).
Tools & standards: Proficiency with ventilation simulation and thermal analysis software; preparation of technical reports; familiarity with WHS standards.Education & work rights: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mining, or Environmental Engineering; fluent English (C1); valid Australian driver's licence; unrestricted work rights in Australia (no visa sponsorship).
Mobility: Willing to relocate to regional NSW; no FIFO.Working Hours: Monday to Friday, ~40 hours/week.
