Our Rare Earths mine at Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths deposits in the world and we operate the world's largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia – so you're joining a very unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines.
An opportunity exists for a motivated Mine Surveyor to join our team at Mt Weld. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, this role is responsible for providing accurate and timely surveying services to support safe and efficient mining operations. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.
The Mine Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring the correct positioning of pit boundaries, ramps, and mining infrastructure while supporting operational planning and production activities.
As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will:
* Maintain accurate survey plans for all mining areas including pits, waste dumps, roads, ramps, and stockpiles.
* Conduct surveys to monitor pit development, wall angles, ramp positioning, and mine design compliance.
* Utilise drone technology and survey equipment to monitor mining progress and verify plans.
* Ensure survey instruments are properly maintained and updated with relevant software.
* Prepare and distribute survey memos and technical reports to relevant stakeholders.
* Collaborate with Mining Engineers and Geology teams to support production and operational planning.
* Assist the Geology department with monthly ore quantity and grade reconciliation.
* Participate in daily production and technical meetings to support operational decisions.
* Provide survey support to identify and mark Aboriginal heritage sites in accordance with compliance requirements.
* Support the development of Surveying Graduates and Vacation Students through training and mentoring.
What you will bring to the team:
* Diploma or higher qualification in Surveying.
* Drone License (REPL).
* Valid C Class Driver's Licence (WA).
* Minimum 2 years' experience in open pit mining operations.
* Experience using Surpac survey software.
* Experience with Topcon GPS and Total Station equipment (or similar).
* Experience with Pix4D drone software or similar photogrammetry software.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
