Clinical Nurse - Perioperative Obstetrics / Gynaecology
Overview
Part‐time position (minimum 18 hours per week) located in Murdoch, Western Australia.
Responsibilities
* Act as a clinical resource and maintain and develop clinical skills relevant to the area of practice.
* Initiate review and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems.
* Serve as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
* Evaluate the quality of nursing practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
* Ensure the correct use and care of all hospital equipment by self and colleagues.
* Actively contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures in the area of specialty.
* Ensure documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements.
* Deputise for the Nurse Manager as required.
* Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively.
* Coordinate the department effectively, ensuring continuity of care and taking action on problems encountered.
* Participate in the performance management of caregivers in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
* Take responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.
* Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programmes with the Nurse Manager, acting as a preceptor as required.
* Organise own work and assist colleagues to complete all care duties by the end of shift.
* Supervise the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
* Assist the Nurse Manager with the submission of the annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the department.
* Review products and equipment and provide documentation and education on evaluation.
* Act as shift coordinator as required and liaise with the Nurse / After Hours Manager to monitor staffing levels continuously and ensure appropriate numbers of skilled staff are available within agreed productivity targets.
* Contribute to planning, problem solving and change management within the Nursing Division throughout the hospital as required.
* Monitor and promote adherence by caregivers to hospital policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with registration held with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications.
* Extensive experience as a Scrub Scout within Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with demonstrated competency.
* Strong leadership ability, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Well‐developed communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem‐solving skills.

* Salary: $109,599 to $115,682 per annum (pro-rata for part‐time) plus 12% superannuation.
