ROLE REQUIREMENTS
As a Diabetes Nurse Educator (DNE), you will deliver engaging, evidence-based education programs and clinical support to people living with diabetes, their families, and support networks. This includes the delivery of NDSS-funded group programs, such as DESMOND and OzDAFNE, as well as individual consultations through our Diabetes Victoria Clinic.
You will also play a key role in delivering professional development training to health professionals, aged care and disability workers, school and early childhood staff, and support the Living Well program and Diabetes Camps Victoria. Travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitate NDSS programs (DESMOND, ) and information sessions across Victoria.
* Deliver individual consultations in person, via telehealth, or in residential care settings.
* Present at Living Well community education events.
* Participate in the Diabetes Camps Victoria program.
* Develop and deliver diabetes-related workshops and presentations for health professionals and support workers.
* Contribute to organisational activities including webinars, resource development, article writing, and media support.
* Maintain credentialing and provide student supervision where required.
ABOUT YOU
Essential:
* Registered Nurse (AHPRA) and current Credentialled Diabetes Educator status.
* Demonstrated experience in delivering diabetes education in group and individual settings
* Experience and confidence working with people living with Type 1 diabetes.
* Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
* Understanding of diverse community needs and commitment to inclusive practices.
* Willingness to travel across Victoria and work occasional out-of-hours shifts.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification, Police Check, Working with Children Check, and Driver's Licence (or willingness to obtain).
Highly desirable:
* Certified OzDAFNE and/or accredited DESMOND facilitator.
* Certified Pump Trainer.
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
* Experience delivering diabetes education to culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
* Experience working in or alongside primary care, schools, aged care or disability sectors.
Please note: This role is ideally performed at 0.8 FTE, 4 days per week; however, there is the possibility of 0.6 FTE, 3 days per week. This role will also involve occasional travel and after-hours work, which can be discussed further for suitable applicants.
