Position Summary
* The Restaurant Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing daily operations, leading the team during service, and ensuring guests feel welcomed and well looked after. This role is especially important during busy dinner services and full-day weekend trade. A strong, approachable knowledge of wine is essential to confidently guide guests and support beverage sales.
Key Responsibilities Service & Operations
* Lead dinner service Wednesday–Friday and all-day service Saturday–Sunday - Be present and visible on the floor during peak periods - Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and front-of-house - Maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and service - Manage opening and closing procedures Wine & Beverage - Confidently recommend wines that pair well with pizza and shared plates - Support guests in selecting wines from a curated, approachable list - Train staff on wine basics, features, and upselling techniques - Manage wine ordering, rotation, and stock levels - Monitor beverage costs and minimize waste - Ensure responsible service of alcohol Team Leadership - Recruit, train, and schedule staff - Lead pre-shift meetings and set the tone for service - Provide real-time coaching during service - Foster a positive, team-focused work environment - Address performance issues professionally and constructively Guest Experience - Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for regulars and new guests - Handle guest feedback and resolve issues quickly and professionally - Build relationships within the local community Financial & Administrative - Manage labor in line with projected sales - Oversee inventory and ordering - Review daily sales and performance metrics - Ensure accurate cash handling and POS procedures Qualifications - 2+ years of restaurant management experience preferred - Experience in casual dining or high-volume environments - Strong practical wine knowledge with confident pairing ability - Excellent leadership and communication skills - Ability to work evenings and weekends consistently - Wine certification (e.g., WSET Level 2) is an advantage but not required Compensation -
