Our pearling operation is extensive and spans coastal regions from Exmouth, WA around to the north of Darwin, NT. Our pearl farms are positioned amongst some of the world's most spectacular coastline and unique marine environments.
We seek an experienced, reliable and qualified Lead Mechanic to work with our Engineering Team to support, guide and assist with the refit and servicing of our pearling vessels and associated machinery.
As the Lead Mechanic - Broome you will work directly with the Manager - Broome Operations and Engineering Manager - Pearling to help define scopes of work to maintain farm vessels and equipment and to assist with fleet vessel requirements as needed. Develop project goals and objectives, create, and maintain project budgets and schedules, analyse progress reports against work schedules and ensure accurate documentation.
Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure Mechanics under your supervision consistently perform their duties to the required standard. Monitor their work for compliance with safety and procedural requirements, ensuring tasks are completed within appropriate timeframes, and confirming that Mechanics maintain accurate daily reports and up‐to‐date service records.
* Supervise team employed by the company to carry out engineering tasks, including control of their hours and timesheets.
* Maintain a workshop which is capable of carrying out the maintenance routines and provide adequate equipment to handle repairs and breakdowns.
* Ensure all Vehicles, boats and equipment are serviced.
* Provide engineering assistance to Fleet vessels as required.
* Work "hands on" when required.
* Provide technical assistance to skippers, engineers and mechanics in Broome based pearl farms and fleet.
* Assist the parts ordering system.
* Ensure all works carried out under your control complies with the requirements of the WA Work Health Act/Regulations.
The successful candidates must
* Hold a current driver's license
* Hold a Construction White Card
* Have Australian Citizenship or Residency with full work rights
* Be able to pass a Pre Employment medical and Drug and Alcohol test
* Be a resident of Broome or willing to relocate
Desirable but not essential
* Hold a current High Risk Forklift Ticket
* Hold a Confined Workspace qualification
* Hold a Work at Heights qualification
* Marine experience and advantage
This position is Broome based, but may require you to work remote at our pearling sites if requested.
