Where you'll make an impact
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), you will lead the operational heartbeat of IT—ensuring our infrastructure, applications, and service operations are robust, responsive, secure, and aligned to business priorities. You will shape operational strategy, uplift capability, and guide a talented team of IT professionals to deliver exceptional service across the organisation.
Operational Planning & Effectiveness
* Develop and execute IT Operational Plans that support business goals
* Contribute to enterprise IT strategy as a key member of the IT Leadership Team
* Lead operational governance processes and ensure alignment with organisational objectives
* Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience
* Oversee the effective implementation and management of IT infrastructure, applications, and services
* Manage operational budgets and ensure cost-effective service delivery
* Maintain structures, processes, and governance frameworks that support reliable daily operations
* Lead Disaster Recovery and collaborate on IT risk and security management
* Support the delivery of IT projects, ensuring outcomes meet scope, cost, and schedule
Operational Management
* Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through strong SLA management
* Oversee the performance, monitoring, and reliability of all IT systems
* Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and internal governance standards
* Manage vendor and supplier performance to ensure optimal service outcomes
* Assess and mitigate risks associated with IT systems and operations
* Stay abreast of industry trends, pricing, and emerging technologies to support informed decision-making
* Uphold a robust IT security posture to protect organisational data and systems
Leadership & People Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop the Network Engineer, Applications Manager, and Helpdesk Manager
* Build a high-performing team culture aligned to Hamilton Island's values—Service, Excellence, Team, Safety, Environment
* Recruit, develop, and retain skilled IT professionals
* Provide coaching and guidance, addressing performance or behaviour misalignment
* Celebrate successes and recognise team contributions through formal and informal programs
* Foster collaboration across IT disciplines including Security, Data, Development, Projects, and Architecture
What we're looking for
You are an experienced operational technology leader with strong business acumen, excellent people skills, and the ability to maintain a stable, secure, and high-performing IT environment in a complex organisation.
To be successful, you'll need
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (essential)
* 10+ years' experience in senior IT management roles (essential)
* Leadership experience within large, complex environments—hospitality highly desirable
* Demonstrated capability in technology and digital leadership
* Proven ability to uplift teams, systems, and processes to support organisational growth
* Strong experience in IT security management, risk, and compliance
* Broad experience managing internal stakeholders, contractors, and IT service providers
* Background in customer-centric or capital-intensive industries (desirable)
* Strong understanding of infrastructure, enterprise applications, and outsourced systems
* Solid grasp of project management principles and service management frameworks
