ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide management and financial accounting services whilst ensuring compliance with
accounting and statutory requirements for Jacana Energy. As a member of the Finance team,
provide analysis and advice to Finance Manager and members of the Finance Team and
Executive group on all financial, budget, and strategic matters in order to achieve the
strategic objectives of Jacana Energy.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will be doing:
1. Assist in the preparation of monthly reports, analysis and reporting of Jacana Energy's
financial position.
2. Develop and implement procedures to capture, store and utilise information from personnel
and financial systems, using existing business systems.
3. Assist management in developing budgets and forecasts to be included in Jacana Energy's
Statement of Corporate Intent.
4. Monitoring and reporting against budgets for effective management of the Corporations
financial resources and provide advice for business unit managers and team members.
5. Implement and monitor internal controls which maintain the integrity of financial systems
and processes.
6. Assist in the preparation of tax compliance obligations including activity statements, payroll
tax, fringe benefits tax and income tax.
7. Assist the finance team with Treasury and Accounts Payable enquiries and tasks.
8. Assist the finance team with month end process including preparation of journal entries and
account reconciliations.
9. Assist in the year-end audit process and the preparation of statutory financial reports in
accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
10. Administer training to Jacana Energy staff in relation to financial policies, practices and
systems.
11. Carry out additional administrative duties as and when required.
12. Comply with the NTPS and Jacana Energy Code of Conduct, NTPS and Jacana Energy
policies and procedures as well as other relevant regulatory guidelines.

monitoring and reporting progress.

and analytical skills, and proven capacity to deliver results.

You may also have:
1. Previous experience in retailing in the energy sector would be highly regarded.
1. Comprehensive understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and International
Financial Reporting Standards.
1. Experience using analysis, reporting, and information management packages such as
Personnel Information and Payroll System (PIPS), Retail Operating System and Pronto.
1. Degree in Accounting or Formal accounting qualifications with either a CA or CPA.
