The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our not-for-profit organisation. You’ll be working with Xero accounting software, maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, managing cash handling and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero
- Process accounts payable/receivable and reconcile bank, credit card and petty cash accounts
- Oversee daily and weekly cash handling procedures, including donation banking and till reconciliations
- Manage payroll, leave tracking and superannuation compliance (STP via Xero)
- Track grant income/expenditure and assist with financial reporting to funding bodies
- Prepare BAS/IAS, monthly reports (P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and support annual audits
- Ensure ongoing compliance with ATO, ACNC and internal policies
- Assist in developing and refining financial procedures and systems
About You
You are an experienced bookkeeper with a strong working knowledge of Xero and a commitment to accuracy and accountability. You are comfortable working independently and as part of a small team, and you bring a high level of integrity, particularly when handling cash and donations.
You’ll ideally have:
- Demonstrated bookkeeping experience (ideally in a not-for-profit setting)
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll, superannuation, GST, and BAS requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Understanding of or interest in working within a values-driven, culturally diverse environment
