Period of Appointment
The appointment is on a fixed-term, casual basis until 30 June 2027.
Duties
* Assist geologists with geological fieldwork and rock sample collection across Tasmania.
* Store or cut rock samples in the office, drill core library, or rock store in Hobart, following established processes.
* Perform data entry to support field geologists and historical data back-capture.
* Contribute to core library functions, including:
o Cataloguing and curating drill cores and samples,
o Maintaining the Mineral Resources Tasmania TIGER information system,
o Performing technical work according to standard practices and protocols.
Applicants must provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption.
Vaccination is defined as receiving all necessary doses for a COVID-19 vaccination certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register or equivalent documentation from outside Australia.
Exemptions may be granted if:
* There is a medical contraindication, supported by documentation from a medical practitioner certifying the contraindication, or
* There are exceptional circumstances as determined by the Head of Agency, such as holding a current First Aid Certificate, preferably in remote first aid.
