Alpine Macro, a leading global macroeconomic research firm serving institutional investors, is hiring a Business Development Manager to lead new client acquisition in the Australia and New Zealand asset management market. This Sydney-based role is part of Alpine’s growing global presence, following its recent acquisition by Oxford Economics.
You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting ANZ-based asset managers—including superannuation funds, sovereign wealth entities, hedge funds, and boutique investment firms. You’ll be the face of Alpine’s macro research to a senior and sophisticated investor audience.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
* Drive outbound prospecting across ANZ via phone, email, LinkedIn, and referrals.
* Qualify and uncover how local investors evaluate research for macro insights and allocation strategy.
* Conduct product demos and client meetings both virtually and on-site throughout Australia and New Zealand.
* Own the end-to-end sales process from first contact to contract signature.
* Maintain an active pipeline in Salesforce and meet sales goals each quarter.
Market Insight & Positioning
* Build expertise in how ANZ institutional clients—including super funds—leverage macro research in decision-making.
* Adjust messaging and demos to align with the unique needs and mandates of the ANZ buy-side.
* Represent Alpine Macro at relevant conferences, networking events, and webinars across Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
Internal Collaboration
* Collaborate with Alpine’s economists to support client meetings and tailor insights.
* Provide ANZ market feedback to Product and Research teams to inform roadmaps.
* Partner with Account Management to ensure seamless onboarding and long-term client success.
CRM & Reporting
* Track all sales activities, pipeline progress, and lead insights in Salesforce.
* Share regular sales updates with senior management.
* Keep contact lists accurate and up-to-date for event invites and targeted outreach.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required
* Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Business, or similar)
* 3–5 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally in financial services or subscription-based research
* Proven ability to generate and convert leads
* Self-driven with strong prospecting discipline
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills
* Ability to work autonomously in a boutique, fast-paced setting
* Proficient with Salesforce or equivalent CRM
Nice to Have
* Familiarity with the ANZ institutional asset management space (super funds, family offices, investment firms)
* Experience selling research or data to financial professionals
* A natural interest in markets, geopolitics, and macroeconomics
