About the Role
We are searching for a full-time highly experienced and skilled Technical Writer to join our team in Albury. For the right candidate, we are open to supporting a Remote or Hybrid role.
This role involves close collaboration with our engineering teams to capture and formalise the intricate details of how our products are conceived and built. You will play a vital role in preserving the company's technical knowledge by converting specialised, unwritten engineering expertise into formalised, structured, and readily accessible documentation.
You will be expected to create precise, easy-to-understand technical content essential for internal training, process standardisation, and guiding future product development cycles.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, as well as drafting personnel, to gain a deep understanding of product and system design methodologies.
* Systematically record engineering design methodologies, control strategies, and system integration practices.
* Develop and keep current a range of crucial technical materials, including design specifications and standards, operational procedures and work instructions, system functional descriptions and control logic explanations, product configuration summaries and design records, and technical manuals and end‑user guides.
* Produce documentation that is logically structured, clear, and easy to navigate for both technical specialists and general audiences.
* Rigorously review and validate content for technical accuracy with engineers and relevant subject matter experts.
* Implement and maintain consistency in document formatting, style guides, and version control mechanisms.
* Contribute to the development of a central engineering knowledge repository or documentation platform.
* Support the creation of training materials or engineering reference handbooks based on captured design documentation.
* Undertake other documentation and knowledge management tasks as necessary.
About You
* Tertiary qualification or background in a relevant technical or engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Software, Electrical, or equivalent).
* Adeptness at reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and other core technical specifications.
* Demonstrable experience in a technical writing or documentation creation role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering-focused environment.
* Exceptional written communication ability; proven capacity to distil complex technical concepts into simple, unambiguous language.
* Highly organised with a methodical approach to information structuring and a strong focus on detail accuracy.
* Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and working knowledge of CAD data environments and document management systems.
* Proven capability to work closely with technical experts, extracting their knowledge and translating it into high-quality written documentation.
