Job Opportunity: Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Specialist
The position of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Specialist exists for a talented and passionate individual to work collaboratively with Registered Aboriginal Parties, administer the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, and manage cultural heritage across Victoria.
This role is responsible for coordinating and/or delivering FPSR project-based work to strengthen the capacity of Aboriginal communities to manage their cultural heritage. The successful candidate will facilitate cultural heritage management and protection training to Registered Aboriginal Parties and Traditional Owners.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage management issues, including legislative and policy directions, Aboriginal community aspirations, current challenges, and opportunities.
You will also need to possess excellent stakeholder management skills, time management and organisational skills, highly developed communication skills, and strong relationship building skills.
A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as History, Archaeology, Cultural Heritage, or Anthropology, and a current driver's licence are mandatory requirements for this role.
