Your new role
The Library Support Officer provides professional, customer‑focused frontline library support to students, educators, and staff. Working both in person and virtually as part of a broader library network, the role supports access to physical and electronic resources, assists with system navigation, and facilitates effective use of library services. Reporting to the Senior Librarian, this position plays an important role in maintaining welcoming, organised, and engaging library environments that support literacy, lifelong learning, creativity, and student success. The role contributes to daily operations, administrative tasks, programs, and promotional activities that enhance service delivery and client engagement.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with a diverse range of clients
* A positive, customer‑focused approach and commitment to delivering high‑quality library services
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
* Demonstrated administrative skills, including task prioritisation, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines
* Experience providing courteous, prompt, and professional frontline support in person, by phone, online, and in writing
* Confidence managing multiple tasks in a dynamic and changing environment
* Willingness to maintain knowledge of library systems, policies, and procedures
* High attention to detail and personal responsibility for accurate completion of work
* Initiative, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement
* Certificate IV in Library and Information Services (or near completion) - Highly desirable.
* A valid and current Blue Card
