The Role This is an exciting opportunity for a for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Intermediate Financial Controller to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and professional consulting firm as a management accountant and consultant.
Working in a team of professionals (including CA & CPA qualified accountants) as well as investment professionals, with a diverse client base (both local and global), the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated to succeed. The Intermediate Financial Controller will support the management and oversight of financial operations for several different clients within the portfolio, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Working closely with senior team members and clients including startup businesses and founders, you will provide financial insights, practical guidance, and support critical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Reporting Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations for multiple clients, including profit and loss preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting Support month-end procedures and ensure accurate, timely completion across client portfolio Coordinate with offshore accounting team, providing guidance and quality control Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for clients with senior oversight
Budgeting & Analysis Assist in preparing and maintaining budgets and rolling forecasts for assigned clients Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance Support cashflow optimization initiatives for clients Analyse financial data and provide business insights to help clients understand their financial position Compliance & Controls Support the preparation of documentation for tax lodgements Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, laws and regulations Monitor and control expenses to ensure they are within budgeted levels Maintain financial controls and documentation standards Assist with managing client financial risk including insurances and workers compensation Client Partnership Develop positive relationships with SME clients to support business objectives Build strong working relationships with clients to ensure accurate and timely flow of information Participate in client meetings to present financial results and discuss performance Identify financial process improvements and efficiency opportunities for clients Translate financial reports into clear, understandable information for business owners Support clients with financial guidance for operational decisions Collaborate across different business disciplines within the group to provide comprehensive support and identify growth opportunities with clients for upsell and cross sell opportunities
Essential Requirements Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Finance or relevant field) Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance in Australia (consulting environment is preferable) Experience managing multiple clients or entities simultaneously
Technical Skills Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (MYOB and XERO are preferable) Intermediate to Advanced Excel user with strong analytical capabilities Knowledge of other reporting software advantageous Understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance requirements
