Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a Prospect Development Specialist to join the Philanthropy and Supporter Engagement (PaSE) team at Burnet!

In this role, you will lead prospect identification, qualification and pipeline intelligence to support major gifts and philanthropic opportunities, helping drive funding outcomes aligned with Burnet's research and global health priorities.

Refer to the attached position description for full details. This is a Part Time (0.6 FTE), 18-month fixed term position, 2 days in the office & 1 day working from home.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a prospect development plan aligned with funding priorities and income targets
* Conduct in-depth research and due diligence to identify and qualify major donor prospects
* Produce high-quality donor profiles, briefings and strategic insights for senior stakeholders
* Collaborate with relationship managers to guide donor strategy, portfolio planning and moves management
* Monitor market and sector intelligence to strengthen the philanthropy pipeline and inform decision making

About You

The following criteria are essential requirements:

* Demonstrated experience in end-to-end prospect development, including identification, qualification and pipeline management of major donor prospects
* Strong understanding of fundraising and philanthropy, ideally within a health, research or not-for-profit environment
* Advanced research, analytical and due diligence skills, including use of public, commercial and wealth screening tools
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear insights
* Proven ability to produce high-quality donor profiles, briefings and strategic recommendations
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and guide donor strategy and portfolio planning
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

The following are preferable but not essential:

* Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and strong data/reporting capability
