Step into a pivotal leadership role where you'll drive high-quality business operations, financial and risk management, and governance. As Manager, Business and Governance, you'll lead a dynamic unit that supports our people, systems, and structures - empowering impactful environmental work across the Hills and Fleurieu region.
This role sits on the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to strategic direction, supporting the Board, and enabling performance and compliance at every level of the organisation.
As the Manager Business and Governance, you will:
* Leadership is provided to the Business and Governance team, ensuring employees are empowered, developed, motivated, have appropriate expertise and meet performance goals.
* Timely and informed advice and strategic planning is provided to the Board on key risks and opportunities within the business.
* Risks and corporate policies are managed and maintained, including the maintenance of risk registers, controls and remediation plans as well as a policy register and relevant policies and procedures.
* Work health safety compliance is maintained, and contribution is provided to the Work Health and Safety Committee.
* Deliver HR services by interpreting legislation (including Awards, enterprise agreements, and OCPSE Commissioner's Determinations and Guidelines), supporting managers and team leaders with effective performance management, and representing the Landscape Board in public sector HR initiatives.
* Support the team to deliver timely and strategic budget management and forecasting, ensuring compliance with standards, and statutory requirements.
* Provides leadership and support to ensure the team successfully delivers annual programs of work, including business planning, statutory reporting, audited financial statements, fringe benefits tax returns, and audits.
* Procurement activities are undertaken in line with government procurement policy. Financial authorisations and other delegations are maintained.
* A high level of executive support is provided for the Board and its committees, in particular, the Risk and Performance Committee.
* The General Manager is supported to ensure that the organisation is effective, efficient and has a positive culture.
* Collaborative and positive working relationships and partnerships are established and maintained with key stakeholders, board and committee members, employees across the region and other government agencies.
About you:
* You are an experienced leader with a track record in driving high-performing teams and business excellence.
* You have deep knowledge across governance, finance, HR, WHS, and risk management in a public sector or similar environment.
* You bring strong judgement, strategic foresight, and a solutions-focused mindset to complex operational challenges.
* You are a confident communicator, able to present to senior stakeholders, facilitate across teams, and lead with clarity and purpose.
* You have a strong understanding of how Boards and government function, including relevant legislative and governance frameworks.
* You are relationship-driven, collaborative, and thrive on building systems that empower people and performance.

The details:
* One full-time (37.5 hrs/week) position.
* 3-year term position available immediately.
* Located in Mount Barker, South Australia.
Remuneration:
ASO8 - $121,107 - $125,679 per annum

Special conditions:
* This role has been designated a Position of Trust pursuant to the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and requires a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
* A current "C" class driver's licence is essential.
* Some out-of-hours work, travel, and fire management participation may be required.
* Australian residency or a current work permit is required (applicants must provide evidence).
Desirable:
* A tertiary qualification in leadership, business, public sector management, accounting, finance or economics is highly desirable.
