The Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman are seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the EL2 level with a strong background in ICT and cyber security, proven communications skills and a demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice. The successful applicant will be an experienced leader with a strong focus on results who has a demonstrated record of delivery in an ICT environment.
The CIO is responsible for leading an established ICT, Security and Information Management team providing ICT operations, application development and management, help desk, cyber security, physical and personal security, integrity and information management services to the Office.
Duties are to be performed under broad direction from the Chief Operating Officer and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct, upholding the Commonwealth Ombudsman office values of independence, impartiality, accessibility, professionalism and teamwork.

Key Duties
The duties of the role include but are not limited to:
* Provide high quality strategic and operational advice to the Executive on enabling core operations through ICT, security and integrity, and information management with solutions that are effective, efficient and proportionate to the Office's scale and compliance obligations.
* Lead and manage a small team (including budgeting), to drive a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and promoting collaboration.
* Meet the Office's responsibilities under whole-of-government arrangements and policies relating to ICT, cyber security, physical and personal security and information management. This includes implementing key strategies, policies and processes and reporting as required.
* Deliver ICT, Information management and security projects and tasks using appropriate governance, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption. Including oversight of the Office's cloud environment.
* Oversee and enhance ICT systems, infrastructure, and processes to ensure reliability, scalability, and timely performance of business needs working closely with internal business stakeholders.
* Define the ICT requirements for new technology implementation and develop strategic initiatives that align with the Office's business objectives. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that add to the Office effectiveness and efficiency.
* Act as the Office's Chief Information Security Officer in accordance with the Protective Security Framework (PSPF) including providing advice and support to the Chief Security Officer (COO) and Accountable Authority (the Ombudsman).
