- leading the Department's efforts to improve student wellbeing, health and engagement
- leading the improvement of educational and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people with disability and additional needs, and building the professional capability of school and regional workforces in inclusive education practice
- leading Koorie education, engagement and workforce matters, including corporate inclusion
- ensuring that all learners have the skills to be interconnected, active and informed global citizens in a modern world
- shaping initiatives that better engage disadvantaged or at-risk students and leading programs with this focus on vulnerable cohorts, including Koorie, students with disability, EAL and refugee students, and rural and regional students.
**Statewide Programs and Tech Schools Division**
Within SEPS, the Statewide Programs and Tech Schools Division (SPaTS) has a central role in ensuring schools can access the programs and supports they need so that all students, including cohorts who may need additional supports, can excel at school. We achieve this by designing and delivering programs, developing operational policy and advice, and providing resources and guidance to schools.
Specifically, we deliver programs and resources to:
- help all students thrive at schools, for example the Glasses for Kids program and guidance and resources to support the transition from primary to secondary school
- help teachers deliver the curriculum, both inside and outside the classroom, in ways that support student learning and wellbeing - through Tech Schools and STEM centres, School Sport Victoria, swimming programs, State Schools Spectacular, the Strategic Partnerships Program and English as an Additional Language resources
- support priority cohorts of students, including CALD and refugee students, and rural and regional students.
