RICHMOND GASTROENTEROLOGIST

FULL TIME

MEDICAL PERSONAL ASSISTANT/ SECRETARY

We are seeking an experienced medical secretary/personal assistant to assist a highly regarded, hard working, dedicated gastroenterologist for his private rooms.

This is a fast paced practice where you are the first point of contact, not only for the patients, but hospitals and other medical professionals, so having a friendly, calm demeanour is essential.

An excellent phone manner is essential, with prompt attention to the many phone calls you receive in a day

This position also includes supporting another specialist doctor, during his PA's occasional absence

The role is very demanding, but with that it is very rewarding with making sure the practice runs smoothly and the demands are met with compassion, enthusiasm, and above all a high level of communication is shown.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Attending to a high volume of phone calls in a timely and courteous manner
* Attending to patient and professional emails promptly
* Drafting, sending, filing of correspondence
* Hospital and consult billings (including Medicare, DVA, Private Health Funds
* Patient scheduling and appointment co-ordination
* Manage consulting sessions
* Operating theatre allocations and bookings
* Liaising & co-ordinating with other specialists, GP's and hospitals
* Maintaining patient records and files accurately
* Manage office supplies
* Sending prescriptions, pathology and radiology requests
* Sending recall letters and follow up on overdue reminders
* Manage incoming/outgoing faxes and mail
* Preparing and sending patient instructions and theatre paper work
* Keeping up to date with changes to medication guidelines
* Triaging referrals with the doctor
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite
* IT skills - with knowledge of Gentu an advantage
* Diary management
* Other administrative duties as required
