**About the organisation**
The Department of Education leads the delivery of education and development services for children and students both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services and non-government schools.
**About the role**
The Deputy Secretary (SES-3) is responsible for leading an ambitious policy and investment agenda. As part of the Department's Executive Board, the Deputy Secretary has collective and group accountability for the department's strategic agenda for First Peoples development and education through the implementation of the Marrung Aboriginal Education Plan and the department's response to the Yoorrook Justice Commission.
Building ownership of momentum for change and influencing strategic priorities, this dynamic leadership role will lead education policy development, service program design and curriculum focused on First Peoples centred outcomes, providing culturally safe and inclusive early childhood services, schools and workplaces.
**About you**
Inspiring, collaborative and a seasoned leader, you are widely respected for the success you have achieved at a senior level in the development and management of major social policy reform in complex, public sector contexts. You have a demonstrable knowledge, understanding, and ability to work with Victorian First Peoples communities and understand the historical and contemporary issues that impact educational and developmental outcomes. Additionally, the ability to to liaise, negotiate and influence at the highest levels of government in culturally sensitive areas and to represent the department in a range of local First Peoples community, state and national forums.
