Medical Secretaries – Orthopaedic Surgeons
Join our growing team We seek Medical Secretaries to support our busy Orthopaedic surgeons. Both part‑time and full‑time opportunities are available across Box Hill and Richmond locations. You will be part of a collaborative group dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
You will report to a specialist surgeon within a large Orthopaedic group practice.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in medical administration, preferably in a specialist or surgical practice.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient‑first mindset.
* Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, ability to multitask.
* Proficiency in Gentu and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Sound knowledge of Medicare, health‑fund billing and referral processes.
* Calm, courteous, professional manner in fast‑paced environment.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Commitment to confidentiality, discretion and accurate medical record keeping.
Responsibilities
* Meet and greet patients in a friendly, professional, compassionate manner.
* Manage incoming phone calls, email correspondence and appointment requests, referrals and enquiries.
* Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, follow‑ups, investigations and surgical bookings.
* Process medical billing including Medicare, private health funds, WorkCover and TAC.
* Maintain accurate, confidential patient records using Gentu.
* Provide administrative support to the surgeon – diary management, medical typing, theatre list preparation.
* Liaise with hospitals, referring doctors, allied health providers and other stakeholders.
