Job Title
Meter Reader (casual)
Job Description
Join EGW in the role of Meter Reader, providing essential water meter readings for customers as part of our quarterly billing cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately record and upload meter data.
Inspect meters for damage or leaks and identify any irregularities or abnormal water usage.
Complete water meter readings across assigned routes in the East Gippsland region, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Verify and validate readings when discrepancies occur, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
Update meter locations and numbers as required.
Adhere to health and safety requirements, including protective clothing and sun-smart policies.
Represent East Gippsland Water in a courteous, professional and respectful manner at all times, especially when responding to public enquiries.
Desired Skills and Experience
Current driver's licence and own roadworthy vehicle (reimbursement of costs by EGW).
Physically fit and able to walk long distances for the duration of the meter-reading cycle.
Experience using a hand-held electronic device for data capture.
Ability to verify and validate readings, ensuring data accuracy.
Knowledge of the local area and ability to locate services independently.
Excellent customer service skills and initiative.
Resilient and able to work independently within a structured environment.
Employment Details
Work approximately 28 weeks per year (5-7 weeks per cycle) as a casual position. Classified as Band 2: $ per hour, inc. 25% leave loading, plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. Successful candidates may be remunerated within the span of this classification depending on skills and experience.
