**About School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences**
The School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences (SEFS) is Australia's premier research and education provider dedicated to the study of ecosystem processes, sustainable land management, conservation and environmental social science in forest and other ecosystems, covering the full range from natural to highly urbanised systems. SEFS combines expertise in the biological and physical sciences with environmental social science to provide research and teaching of applied ecosystem science that is relevant to society, delivering innovative solutions to the environmental issues faced by a rapidly growing global community. Our work spans from molecular to ecosystem scales, from technology to sociology, and from city to 'wilderness'.

The regional Creswick Campus, the University's specialist campus for forest science and the birthplace of forest education and research in Australia, is home to significant plant and crop science initiatives of other Faculties.

**About the Role**
Based at either Burnley or Creswick campus, the Administration Officer will provide a wide range of high-level administrative support to the Bushfire Behaviour and Management Group (BBMG) and provide executive support the group's Head.

A strong background in financial administration is crucial to the success of this role, as the incumbent will be expected to monitor expenditure for all the research groups in the BBMG and provide high-level advice to the Head of BBMG on budget and project milestones. The role will further support the development and management of research contracts and consultancies, support EH&S compliance and assist with events as required.

As a first point of contact for the BBMG, the role will provide high quality services to the group's stakeholders, ensuring enquiries are dealt with in a professional and timely manner and operating with a high level of independent judgement and discretion within a fast-paced, complex environment.

Responsibilities include:

- Facilitating support and administration of research contracts and consultancies including facilitating project budgets and finances, personnel contracts, IP information, and milestone reporting
- Supporting visitor and events processes, including invitations, travel, space allocations and reconciliations
- Assisting with day to day EH&S activities in consultation with the Chair of EH&S, supporting staff with accessing EH&S information, preparing for EH&S audit activities, maintaining reports and tracking compliance

**About You**

You will be able to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and task prioritisation within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Possessing excellent interpersonal ability, you can successfully interact with a range of stakeholders and demonstrate ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

You will also have:

- A degree with subsequent relevant and/or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in the Accounting or Finance field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated outstanding computer skills, including the Microsoft suite
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to provide accurate and informed advice
- Experience in providing administrative/secretarial support
- Demonstrated self-motivation and flexibility in responding to changing work priorities, with the capacity to work independently and as a member of a team
