The Role The Office of the Secretary and Governance is a unit within the Organisational Strategy and Governance branch reporting directly to the Secretary. The director will report to the Executive Director and is responsible for ensuring the duties of the Secretary are achieved, acting as a conduit between departmental business and the business of Government. The role's primary focus is to support the Secretary to execute their duties by providing executive advice and exceptional administrative oversight and by delivering systems and processes that support a range of complex and varied issues.Managing the administrative actions for the Secretary.Establishing and coordinating a forward agenda for Secretary governance systems to ensure the priorities and goals are set, managed and overseen.Directing a team that manages the department's reporting accountabilities, including the work required to support the department and Ministers at the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee meetings.Directing a team that coordinates the department's strategic plan and planning process.The Director supports the flow of information to and from the Secretary's office, pre‐empting tactical, practical and strategic issues and managing these proactively in advance of issues arising. The role is required to liaise with senior leaders to consult, advise and negotiate policy and delivery issues. The role oversees engagement with divisions to deliver strategic plans and updates on delivery to the plan as well as key administrative duties such as quality briefings, correspondence advice and corporate reporting including PAEC.Accountabilities IncludeExercise initiative and independence in dealing with departmental priority issues and coordinate cross‐divisional responses to ensure the Department is responsive to emerging and contentious issues in a timely and appropriate way.Manage, monitor and improve the administrative and quality control processes for correspondence and briefings to and from the Office of the Secretary, ensuring accuracy, issue relevance and timeliness.Lead a team responsible for high‐quality administrative support in managing the flow and priority of information, briefings and correspondence to the Secretary and from Ministers and stakeholders to relevant departmental leads.Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
