About the role
Work as a multi-skilled member of the Operating Theatre Team to provide non-clinical ancillary support to the theatre staff to complement the delivery of safe, effective, quality patient care.
The position is also required to deliver services to the theatre campus and the general hospital as directed by facility management.
Responsibilities
Liaise with relevant staff to confirm equipment requirements in line with the theatre list, and assemble equipment checking to ensure that it is complete, clean, and correctly functioning
Identify equipment for maintenance and refer to relevant staff
Maintain supplies as required in consultation with relevant staff
Ensure appropriate cleaning and removal of soiled linen and waste is undertaken in preparation between procedures and at the completion of the theatre list, including in theatre and ancillary rooms
Provide assistance during the positioning and prepping stage of the patient and inter-operatively as required
Transport blood, pathology specimens, and other items necessary using standard precautions

In this position, you will work alongside a large multidisciplinary team within the Theatres department at John Hunter Hospital.
