Peer Support Specialist
Our organization is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be working with consumers who have mental illness and co-occurring substance use issues.
* You will provide support to consumers and assist with complex consumer relationships.
* Attend consumer groups to build relationships with consumers.
* Education, training, and orientation of staff, graduates, and students on the peer worker role and integrated care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-level support to consumers.
* Develop and facilitate group work.
* Participate in continuous improvement and service development.
* Provide peer AOD education sessions.
Requirements:
* Lived or living experience of a mental illness and alcohol and other drugs (AOD)-integrated care needs.
* Sound working knowledge of and a commitment to recovery-oriented practice.
* Demonstrated experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* An understanding and working knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple stakeholders.
* Ability to provide culturally competent services.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability in leadership and coordination of projects and group facilitation.
* A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
