Monash Youth Music Festival – Mount Waverley VIC
The Monash Youth Music Festival (previously the Waverley Music Eisteddfod) is an annual music festival held over two weeks in August in the City of Monash, Melbourne, Victoria. The Volunteer Committee runs around 40 music events, catering for a wide range of young musicians. The first Waverley Music and Dance Eisteddfod started in a very small way, but gradually expanded with new sections such as school choirs, vocal solos and instrumental competitions. The Waverley Music Eisteddfod grew to become a successful, prestigious and vibrant part of Melbourne's cultural calendar. The committee meets once a month to discuss and prepare for the festival each year.
Responsibilities
* Assisting the President in preparing an agenda for each meeting
* Distributing the agenda and notice of meeting to committee members at least one week prior to meeting
* Overseeing the planning of meetings and events (such as Volunteer Celebration and our Annual General Meetings) and ensuring venue and catering bookings are in place
* Accurately recording minutes of all meetings and distributing them one week after each meeting
* Assisting the maintenance of files and records
* Receiving and recording correspondence between committee members and outsiders
* Notifying appropriate people of correspondence and any action required
* Booking venue for both committee meetings and the Festival
* Preparing Annual Statement for Consumer Affairs VIC
* Maintaining contact lists for committee members, volunteers and accompanists
* Preparing and ensuring there are adequate volunteers rostered for the festival
Whether you are a music teacher, someone who wants to be involved in their local community or looking to learn some new administrative skills, any individual who can demonstrate that they are organised, pays attention to detail and is reliable will be considered for this role. Many of the responsibilities are currently being shared by our committee members, therefore full training and assurance can be provided to help you settle into this role.
