We have an excitingopportunity for a Senior Associate to join our General Insuranceteam based in Melbourne. You will have the opportunity to work on abroad range of insurance matters with a focus on property recoveryand personal injury matters.
Our national General Insurancepractice has approximately 200 team members and advises on andmanages litigated claims for a number of major insurers, reinsurersand corporates, and on behalf of significant clients in a widevariety of industries. We sit on the legal panels ofAustralia's top general insurers, as well as a number ofother local and international insurers.
You will be responsible forand have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervisionfrom our supportive and industry leading partners.
You will be responsiblefor:
* client interaction andstrategy;
* working with a team oflawyers;
* reviewing documents andpreparing evidence;
* drafting correspondenceto the Court and third parties;
* conferencing withwitnesses and preparing witness statements;
* liaising withexperts;
* preparing briefs forcounsel;
* drafting Court documentsand attendance at Court;
* drafting client advices;and
* drafting letters ofinstruction to experts.
Aboutyou
You will ideally have thefollowing skills and experience:
* minimum of five years ofpost-admission experience in defendant insurancelaw;
* experience managingproperty recovery and personal injury claims;
* experience in advising onindemnity;
* experience in theday-to-day management of files and in running matters throughcourt proceedings;
* experience supervising,mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers orparalegals;
* clear, concise legalwriting skills;
* a team player with theability to also work autonomously; and
* motivated and eager tobuild a legal career in the insurance sector.
