About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Lawyer to join our growing General Insurance practice area on a permanent, full-time basis.

Working with a Partner in a team of 15 people, this hands-on role will see you working on a variety of matters involving property damage claims, with a particular focus on subrogated recovery actions for home and contents and commercial insurers. This will include exposure to general litigation in the Federal and State jurisdictions (including VCAT) involving:

* Product liability and the Australian Consumer Law
* Common law negligence and nuisance
* The Water Act 1989
* Domestic building legislation.

Our Property Damage team acts for several leading and niche insurers based in Australia, including domestic home and contents, building, landlord and tenant, commercial and motor insurers.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years' PAE, with a genuine passion and interest in the areas of litigation and insurance and law. Your previous experience will include some exposure to advocacy work and you will have a keen desire to continue developing this skill.

This close-knit team is results orientated and has a strong record of achieving efficient commercial outcomes for their clients. To succeed in this role, you will have prior experience of managing a high-volume file load, in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet and maintain the high standards and work quality that our clients have come to expect.

Our clients are at the heart of all that we do, so we are looking for a candidate who demonstrates a strong client service focus and a commercial approach to all dealings.

* Excellent verbal and written communication, including well-developed Plain English writing skills
* Meticulous attention to detail
* Self-confidence, initiative and a commitment to ongoing learning and development in this area of practice
* A positive and enthusiastic attitude
* Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively as part of a small team.
