About The Role And Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our General Insurance team based in Melbourne. You will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of insurance matters with a focus on property recovery and personal injury matters.
Our national General Insurance practice advises on and manages litigated claims for a number of major insurers, reinsurers and corporates, and on behalf of significant clients in a wide variety of industries. We sit on the legal panels of Australia's top general insurers, as well as a number of other local and international insurers.
You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision from our supportive and industry leading partners.
Responsibilities
* client interaction and strategy
* working with a team of lawyers
* reviewing documents and preparing evidence
* drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties
* conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements
* liaising with experts
* preparing briefs for counsel
* drafting Court documents and attendance at Court
* drafting client advices
* drafting letters of instruction to experts
About You
* minimum of five years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law
* experience managing property recovery and personal injury claims
* experience in advising on indemnity
* experience in the day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings
* experience supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals
* clear, concise legal writing skills
* a team player with the ability to also work autonomously
* motivated and eager to build a legal career in the insurance sector
