* We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrative officer to join our Cardiac Diagnostics Department on a casual basis.
* Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses for the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.
About the Department
* The department provides 24-hour echocardiography and cardiac catheterisation laboratory services for acute myocardial infarction.
* In-patients are managed predominantly in the 30-bed Cardiac and Thoracic Unit on Ward 5 East.
* The department has links to the University of Melbourne and a major involvement in teaching, training and research at under-graduate and post-graduate levels for both nursing and medical staff.
About the Role
* This position plays an important role in creating a positive image for the Cardiology Department, being the first point of contact for patients, either in person or by telephone.
* Administrative Clerks also provide secretarial, reception and administrative support to facilitate the management of patients, their appointments and records within the department.
* Where required, the position will also be responsible for the identification of billable patients, provision of the correct billing codes to the Finance Department, reconciliation between systems and follow-up of billing.

* Ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a dynamic team, which works effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
* Demonstrated computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills.
* Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Knowledge of hospital management systems (i.e. TrakCare, Cerner and Cardiobase).
