Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community‐based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department

The Alfred Health Emergency Virtual Care and Outpatients (EVO) Program delivers comprehensive emergency and paediatric clinical services alongside a range of specialist outpatient care across multiple campuses. This dynamic program supports clinical care through services such as GP Liaison Telehealth Specialist Clinics and Operations Support, ensuring seamless patient management from pre‐admission to post‐hospital care. By collaborating with general practitioners, specialists and inpatient teams the EVO Program provides coordinated high‐quality care for patients with diverse and complex health needs.

The Role

Reporting to the Administration Team Leader through the Administration Supervisor, this role is integral to supporting the smooth operation of the Outpatient Programs clinics and health services. The Administration Officer will perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient service delivery that meets both internal standards and external reporting requirements. Key responsibilities include managing patient enquiries, processing referrals, scheduling appointments and maintaining a professional and responsive approach to patients, carers and health professionals.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Demonstrated computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel (foundational)

Desirable Skills and Experience

* Understanding and experience supporting MBS clinics in a similar setting
* Understanding of confidentiality and privacy legislation
* Understanding of medical terminology
* Understanding and experience of Medicare billing processes
* Demonstrated ability to plan workflow, prioritise and delegate to meet deadlines
* Previous administration experience in a health setting
