About the Role
We're a small, family-run business seeking a reliable and proactive Accounts & Payroll Officer to join our team. This is a broad and hands-on role where you'll take ownership of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
You'll be based in our Melbourne office, working alongside a supportive team in a fast-paced environment where your initiative and attention to detail will be valued.
Key Responsibilities
* Process Accounts Receivable and Payable transactions
* Prepare and send invoices, including uploading to client portals
* Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate invoicing
* Follow up on outstanding payments and liaise with clients for approvals
* Manage obligations to suppliers, customers, and third-party vendors
* Complete credit applications and perform bank reconciliations
* Maintain and manage client portals and accounts inbox
* Manage payroll by collecting and entering timesheet data, setting up new employees and ensuring checks and inductions are completed as part of the onboarding process.
* Respond to client enquiries via phone and email
* Prepare weekly reports for the Managing Director
* Provide support to the Finance Manager as needed
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be:
* Experienced in a similar accounts/admin role (minimum 2 years)
* A team player with a proactive and customer-focused attitude
* Detail-oriented and committed to following procedures
* Energetic, quick-thinking, and able to work independently
* Skilled in written and verbal communication
* Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
* Experience in the Relocations industry is a bonus but not essential
