About Us

For more than 120 years, Hope Community Services has supported West Australians experiencing mental health challenges, family and domestic violence, alcohol and other drug issues, and other complex needs.

Hope is funded by the Mental Health Commission (WA) to deliver Psychosocial Support Packages for people living with persistent and complex mental health challenges. Our work is recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and grounded in choice, self-determination, and participant voice.

Hope operates as an independent system steward, coordinating access to psychosocial supports rather than delivering clinical treatment. We work in partnership with participants and their families, lived-experience workers, service providers, clinicians, and community stakeholders across Western Australia to ensure fair access, strong governance, and quality outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Lived Experience Recovery Coach (Peer) – Adult Focus to join our Program Coordination Supports Program (PCSP), based in Armadale.

This role supports people participating in Mental Health Commission (WA) funded Individualised Community Living Strategy (ICLS) psychosocial support packages. Working within an independent coordination model, the Recovery Coach supports people in order to exercise informed choice, build self-agency, and progress toward their recovery goals.

The role does not provide clinical treatment. Instead, you will work alongside people, families and carers (where appropriate), service providers, and the Program Coordinator to support engagement, recovery planning, service navigation, and transitions. You will play a key role in ensuring people experience the program as accessible, respectful, culturally safe, and empowering, while maintaining integrity, probity, and compliance with commissioning requirements.

What's on Offer
* $44.58 per hour + super

* Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax-free

* Part-time or full-time opportunities (subject to program requirements)

* Based in Armadale

* Supportive team culture with regular reflective supervision

* Opportunity to use lived experience to positively influence young people's recovery journeys

* Ongoing professional development and training

About You

Essential:
* Relevant tertiary qualification in mental health, social work, community services, or a related discipline

* Demonstrated experience in psychosocial support and recovery planning

* Sound understanding of recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care

* Knowledge of culturally safe and inclusive practice, including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQIA+, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities

* Strong engagement skills and the ability to build trust with participants, families, and stakeholders

* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting

* Ability to manage competing priorities, including high-volume referrals and administrative tasks

* Confidence using Client Management Systems and coordinating assessment processes

* Lived experience of mental health and/or alcohol and other drug recovery, either personally or as a family member or carer
* Current Working with Children Check

* National Police Clearance (issued within the past 3 months)

* Current valid WA driver's licence

Desirable:
* Experience working within Mental Health Commission funded programs
