Senior Legal Counsel & Company Secretary
Our client is a dynamic Australian energy retailer and rapid paced business operating in a complex, highly regulated environment, nationally.
The Business is seeking a Senior Lawyer & Company Secretary to join the leadership team in Melbourne.
The successful candidate will report to the Executive General Manager, Compliance and provide high quality legal support to the Board, CEO, Executive team and business units.
This is an autonomous role enjoying high levels of senior stakeholder engagement. Working directly with the business, you will lead contract negotiations, provide general commercial legal and regulatory and governance advice.

Key responsibilities
- Providing strategic legal advice to management
- Providing advice on Australian Consumer law, Competition, Consumer and Privacy Acts
- Providing advice on energy regulations
- Negotiating, preparing and reviewing commercial contracts such as supply and service agreements
- Ensuring compliance requirements are being met
- Providing advice on disputes
This role would suit a pragmatic commercial lawyer with experience in Australian Consumer law matters and some regulatory law with at least 7 years’ PQE.
