**FULL-TIME MEDICAL SECRETARY**
**SURGICAL ROOMS**
**ONSITE PARKING**

An exceptional opportunity for an experienced medical secretary to provide high-quality patient service and administrative support to a specialist Ophthalmologist.

Working one on one, you will primarily be the first point of contact and as such, must have a genuine desire to provide high-quality service to patients, referring practitioners, and other stakeholders. The primary responsibility is to provide timely, friendly, and professional patient administration services, patient-focused care, and efficient operation of the practice.

This exciting role requires a high-quality approach to customer service, an excellent telephone manner, be flexible, have a good level of computer literacy, and be ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Days and hours of work are as follows**:
Monday, 9.00am to 5.00pm
Tuesday, 8.00 am to 5.00 pm
Wednesday, 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Thursday, 8.00 am to 5.00 pm
Friday, 9.00am to 3.30pm

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Meeting and greeting patients on arrival at the practice
- Scheduling patient appointments
- History set up - notifying of referral and appointment reminders
- Follow-up test results
- Arranging surgical theatre lists including hospital consents, forms and instructing patients
- Liaising with private/public hospitals, anaesthetists, and various medical organisations
- Invoicing and receipting payments, following up on outstanding accounts
- Knowledge of Medicare and various health fund rebates/policies
- Health fund and Medicare claiming
- Medical audio typing
- Use of Zedmed medical software (Highly desirable)
- Operating EFTPOS
- Banking duties

**Essential criteria**:

- Previous experience within specialist medical rooms
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Well presented, friendly, courteous, and obliging
- Represent the practice in a confident and positive manner
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information
- Ability to work co-operatively and independently
